The internet is littered with pictures of underground tunnels. Many of them show signs of humans habitation. There is so much we don't know from earth's past and much of our history is unknown. Archaeologists are sometimes baffled by findings and much of it is because people are ashamed to talk about evolution.
Summary of the story
Elton is a General in an army of evolved underground beings, lead by elders (Fallen Angels). The goal, of the now demons, are to expedite judgement day. They want the end to come so that their suffering can end. Elton is supposed to make the human race fall so that judgement day can be initiated. As humans evolve, many years from now, the Corona Virus will merely be a triggering event for our eyes to open and realise what matters in life. Like the black plague, our filth and current lifestyles is killing us. We will get through this, but the new race shows how life could be. Elton's failure is a story about Elton failing his orders to end life on earth.
10 Factual Ideas that triggered the story
1 - During the lockdown, I watched how a traveller explored caves in which a previous civilisation lived to protect itself against people making war. They hide all their farm stock below the surface and dug tunnels for housing deep underground. It protected them from the elements and with changing weather patterns, their new environment stayed neutral while protecting them from everything on the surface.
2 - Other tunnels were found, much larger and one wonders why we know so little about them. The reason they've done it is quite obvious, but why the secrecy? We also hear about London that was filthy. They had no plumbing yet and after some significant event, they covered the city and build a new one on top. We also find many ancient cities with hidden tunnels below. We also find that people who lived in their own filth found that they created a breeding ground for plagues.
3 - While some civilisations seek fresh air, others looked for protection. We also learned that there were several ice ages, five we know of, and it only makes sense that those who found a way to live underground, would most probably have survived. What would humans look like who adapted their DNA to live down there, we wonder? What would the conditions be like? If the unusual lifestyle worked, others would do the same to survive. With global warming not being an overnight occurrence, Ice ages would also be a lengthy process and the word of alternative protection would have spread like a wildfire. Is that maybe why we see so many signs of underground habitation?
4 - Much of our ancient history we find in the Bible. Even while it was rewritten and altered multiple times by whichever Catholic dynasty was in charge, we believe that the historical significance stayed true. As Christians, we were raised not to ask many questions about the bible. If you have doubt, you're branded as a person with doubtful faith. You'll also be told that some stories aren't actual occurrences, but spiritual representations. Funny enough, many religions are very similar, which makes ancient history kind of easy to track when regarding the general direction of scriptures as truth. It depends on which group disagreed with writing historical fact, spit-up and started their own version of the original religion. If you question anything, you don't have faith and you're not welcome anymore. As social human beings, we want to belong to something.
5 - The bible explains that a third of the angels were cast out from heaven in Revelation 12:4. Satan and his fallen angels were cast from heaven to be damned to earth. They were to be kept in the abyss until judgement day. That means that hell is on or in the planet earth where humans can't get to. The fallen angels were already judged and can't die, so what would their goals be after millennia of existence. The bible's timeframe of humankind on earth is about 6000 - 15 000 years while archaeologists find evidence of human life is more like 315 000 years old. Quite a large difference and one of the two is wrong. Combining the facts, we can assume that the angels were cast from heaven well before Adam was created, and since judgement day will come after the fall of the human race, fallen angels are in suffering for millions of years. They know their future, suffer until death. Looking at terminally ill patients, many want to make their last days count and then commit suicide. Wouldn't fallen angels with all their godly powers do anything to make their suffering end.
6 - Fallen angels are probably what we now describe as demons. It only makes sense why demons would want to see the human race fail because that is the only way judgement day will come and end their suffering. They are held in constraints of some kind, but preachers made it clear that they influence everything around them to do their bidding. Humans tunnelling around in the underworld could very well arrive at a secret area.
7 - There are many rumours about the hollow earth theory. An entrance leading to a more advanced civilisation that lives underground. We have the knowledge that we learn from our historical source, the Bible, which covers 6 000 - 15 000 years of our existence. If another civilisation survived ice ages and retained millions of knowledge from millions of years, the possibility of an advanced race is quite possible.
8 - "Why haven't we met any of the advanced race", I hear you ask? Probably for the same reason we haven't met extraterrestrials. They either don't want to communicate with us, or we don't understand them. We already hear talks about colonising Mars, as if we have the right to claim the planet. If they meet other life, do they expect the conversation to be in English? We're Narcicsts. We expect them to learn our form of communication. We can't even communicate with our pets, but we expect to communicate with a possible hostile form.
9 - Besides the bible, we also have signs of evolution hidden inside our DNA. The most common is our different skin colours, while others are less subtle. Some of us are more hairy, regulate heat differently, prefer different diets. Our individual history is locked in our DNA. Imagine if we could access memories from our forfathers. How educated we wouldn't have been. Actually using the rest of our brain matter. Maybe, our pets are our teachers in learning us to communicate, but we don't understand them yet. When you look in their eyes, and you open your mind, imagine what they want. We learn animal behaviour by studying their patterns. If telepathy was a common form of communication, maybe we could communicate and feel what mother nature is trying to tell us.
10 - As humans evolve, we learn from our mistakes. We get better at being alive, based on our existing knowledge. What would our next evolved state look like? What would they learn from our mistakes, especially those we don't know we're making yet? What if the world could function without money? What if we know each other by who we are instead of what we have, or what we've accomplished? When we introduce ourselves, do we introduce ourselves or our jobs?
Additional Background
I've started writing a noval about a futuristic race living on earth. The story is too advanced for my current writing abilities, and I'll continue with it when I'm ready. Elton is one of the key characters who helps the protagonist, a human, to escape an asylum where he is sedated to stop him from acting on his advanced abilities. No superhero stuff, I promise.
Elton is torn between two sides of a looming war. Neither side is right or wrong, like which Abrahamic faith is the true one. Creatures, like Elton, who no longer resemble a human due to his origin and the evolution of his race, change his convictions and no longer follow the status quo of his existence. Fiction readers are familiar with many monsters, but how many of them had a choice. Most don't know any other way. A baby from a sinking ship that is saved and raised by a tribe of cannibals', will be a cannibal. On our society it will be taboo, but he didn't know any better. The same with people growing up in a violent household. They will be violent, because that is their way to live. We should understand our enemy if we want to judge them, but judging others in itself is a reflection of us not excepting the alternative. We might be wrong.
Open for Discussion
In this short story, I intentionally left room for discussion so that the reader have something to ponder about as the possible reality sets in. It seems that the new civilization are emotionless and untrustworthy. Elton was guided to the eco container with the clear intention to be blown to smithereens. Could futuristic decision made without emotion be calculated as a good thing or not. Does our emotions affect important decisions positively or not? Does our emotions make us human, a chemical reaction in the brain that could be altered chemically? Does this mean that a person with depression or bipolar disorder will make different decisions based on the current state of their mind, which would have been different if they took their medication? It's like trusting a drunk's opinion, only the chemical alteration made the person seem lucid, or normal to our eyes.
If you like to read the story, you are welcome to buy the book from our store page. It is available in eBook format at Smashwords, Amazon Kindle, as well as in a Print on demand paperback format at Amazon Paperback. In South Africa, I recommend buying from Takealot.
